Michelle Obama Claims Republican Party Is Comprised Solely Of White Men

NEWS

On Tuesday, former first lady Michelle Obama attended a Philadelphia women’s conference, where she explained the difference in color she saw during former President Barack Obama’s State of the Union addresses.

Michelle Obama claimed the Republican side of the room was grey and white, while the Democrat side of the room had more color.

“Literally, that is the color palette on one side of the room. On the other side of the room, there are yellows and blues and whites and greens,” Obama said, according to Breitbart. “Physically, there’s a difference in color, in the tone, because on one side all men, all white, on the other side some woman, some people of color.”

In light of this color difference, Obama argued that the inability to come to an agreement should come as no surprise.

“No wonder we struggle, no wonder people don’t trust politics, we’re not noticing what these rooms look like,” Obama said.

“We should be working actively to mix it up, so we’re getting a real broad range of perspectives on every issue,” she added.

Obama has previously been criticized for expressing the sentiment that white men cannot effectively represent women. She argued that women who voted for President Donald Trump “voted against their own voice.”

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren responded that female voters consider other factors before concerning themselves with a politician’s race or gender.

Lahren argued that those who voted for Trump “choose secure borders, personal responsibility, a strong military, tax reform, smaller government, Obamacare repeal” and other issues, rather than picking a president who looks like them.

Obama has already begun facing similar criticism for her comments at the Women’s Convention.

In a tweet, conservative political commentator and high-profile Christian Jack Posobiec let his thoughts regarding Obama’s comments be known.

“Michelle Obama’s racist outburst in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting was appalling,” he wrote. “She must apologize.”

Other users criticized the race-based claims made by the former first lady.

Obama capped off her statements by reminding the audience that it is “hard” to empathize with people who are not you.

“If people haven’t had the experience of being other and out, and you are trying to fix the problem of those folks, it’s hard to come up with the right answer when you haven’t lived it.”

One Twitter user pointed out that Obama’s claim that the Republican party is comprised of all white men would be news to his wife, who is Republican.

“Michelle Obama says Republicans are all white males … trying to figure out how to break the news to my Republican wife,” the user quipped.
